There are tens of thousands of ways to create your perfect curry dish in the world—discover your own unique curry in Manila.
On the first floor of Robinsons Place Manila (Ermita district), in the Midtown Wing, there's a curry restaurant with a rather unusual set of rules. It's CoCo Ichibanya , a curry house chain originating in Japan. Here, instead of "choosing" from the menu, you "assemble" your own curry.

The spiciness ranges from mild to so intense it makes you sweat. You decide everything yourself, from the amount of rice to the toppings. That's why even if you sit at the same table, you'll end up with a completely different dish than the person next to you. It's a place where you can have your "usual" order, but also a place where you can "venture"—that's what makes CoCo Ichibanya so interesting.
You'll know from the first bite.
The thick, rich curry sauce slowly soaks into the fluffy rice. The crispy fried cutlet absorbs the sauce and crumbles in your mouth. You can enjoy that familiar, comforting taste of classic Japanese curry right here in the heart of Manila.
It's not just curry – a pleasant surprise!
Actually, the side dishes are not to be underestimated either. There's the shrimp curry rice gratin (₱360) featuring plump, sweet shrimp, the seafood basket with its delightful crispy texture (₱290) , and the surprisingly excellent supporting player, the chewy naan (₱230) . Once you start eating it with the curry, you won't be able to stop. On days when you want something lighter, the mixed salad (₱260) is a good way to cleanse your palate.

On days like these : "I want a hearty meal," "I want something spicy to get me pumped up," "I miss the taste of Japan"—if even one of these applies to you, that's reason enough to go.
What level of spiciness will you choose today, and what toppings will you add?
